Design, in all it’s forms, is a wonder to behold. Whether it be a great product, or a clean snippet of code, or some amazing stamp work on leather, these are just a handful of what I find pleasing.
I have been in IT in some facet professionally for the last 2 1/2 decades, plus a handful of years going back to when I was 16 and received my first computer, a Timex Sinclair. It came with 4k of memory with no storage. I had tons of fun writing basic programs and running them on my TV set and then just turning it off, as there was no way to store it.
Over the years I have built computers, set up large networks, configured and maintained servers, and designed and developed web applications and websites. I have done it all and as I approach 50 I can honestly say that I am a ‘Jack of All Trades, Master of None’. I can assess your computer/server needs, purchase them and set them up, run your network cables and configure your wi-fi. I can build your website and maintain it while simultaneously formulate your social media presence and generate leads. But I’d rather make leather bags. Go figure. 🙂
I have several hobbies: I work with leather, I assist my wife with her food blog, I am constantly reading up on web / work related articles, I am thinking real hard about getting into blacksmithing, I am a diehard Tolkien fan and if I am not working on something, I am re-reading something that he wrote. Needless to say, I’m a mess. The one thing that I love and cherish the most in my life is my long suffering wife and my precious daughter. Everything else is only shadow.
